When creating the Virtual tour in droplet MAKE VTOUR, please set the map to have a close button(that would be placed in the map window itself) in addition to be able to close by re-clicking the map icon.

You can easily add it by yourself
find layer with map (skin_map_container) and add layer "close button"
set onclick skin_showmap(false);
skin_showmap - show or hide map in standard skin xml
