Submit of Kala Patthar in Népal, amazing view on Everest !

  • Hello,

Here it is, I have just finished all my panoramas, and the virtual tour with Krpano !
    I have spent between 10-12 weeks, and between 2 and 7h a day ...

Here are a few pictures, if you click on them, you 'll go directly to this panorama when opening the virtual tour, after you can go and visit the other panoramas ...

Katmandou (which isn't in the virtual tour )

This is just a selection, you can go and visit 25 panoramas...

The steep runway of Lukla airport - 2850m

Prayer wheel in the entrance of Sagarmatha Park - 2780m

Skull of Yeti in Khumjung monastery - 3780m

Prayer weel in Tengboche - 3870m

Early walk in Tengboche - 3900m

    Nepalese bridge - 4410m

Summit of Kala Patthar, 5645m ! - view on Everest !

You can discover all the panorama on this page (the first three of katmandou aren't part of hte virtual tour ...)

    Equipment
    Tripod manfrotto 190xProB (lourd ...) - Nodal Ninja3 - Eos 400d - Tokina 10-17mm to 10mm - Tamron 18-250mm to 250mm
Bracketing -2, 0, +2 on the sphérical view.

As it is my hobby, I was carrying all the equipment, it was out of question to make it carry by Sherpas guide...

I wish you a nice visit, don't hurt your feet...

    Fr version :
    -------------------------------------------------------

  • wow thats amazing and it shows that panos are all over the world and all over the web zooom *thumbsup*

how do you do the SHOW vignette it opens and slides out so smooth, care to share.

  • Hi Matt, great panos, beautifully photographed and nice and sharp.

I wish I could get to such far flung places, I'm sick of urban landscapes and inside buildings *sad*

One thing I noticed though, on at least two of the panos, when I moved towards the left the pano jumped back to the right.

Is it me? Is it meant to do that?

    Thanks.

  • nice job. very good. my constructive critism is this. i did not like it when after clicking escape to leave fullscreen each time a new pano loaded it went fullscreen after clicking the close button for the info. that was kind of annoying. also i would loose the standard buttons. your tour is way to nice to use those. use the cameracontrols.swf or bulb new menu he is sharing either would add more character to an already nice tour. well done.

  • Great panos.

I too don't like the force into full screen. I understand that is how it looks best, but would much prefer to choose on my own. For some less experienced users it might be bothersome as they may not intuitively know how to get back to normal viewing. It's not a huge drawback.. more just a personal preference.

Two things that I would suggest to improve an already great experience.

    1. Change the textstyle that is used for the showtext events... the standard yellow box text doesn't seem to fit in.
    2. Check your close/open map icon on the top... When I want to show the map, the icon has an X through it... once the map is open, the X is gone... this seems to be opposite what I would expect... i.e. when map is open, icon should have an X through it to indicate that is how I would close it.

You've got a good tour... the above or just nit-picky details that would just be small increments over what you already have.

    *thumbsup*

  • Hello everybody,
Thank you for your answers !

@ Tangent12 : "when I moved towards the left the pano jumped back to the right."
I have never had this problem, nevertheless, my computer is more than 8 years old ( 1.2Go SDram, and Amd Athlon Xp+ 2600 : 2Ghz )

    @VN2009 : " also i would loose the standard buttons. "
Can you explain a little bit more ? I can't see what you mean, my english is poor ...

    Graydon :
    - I am going to try and do something not to force fullscreen.
    - It depends on how you see the icon for the map, but your idea is interesting, I think I'm going to do as you say :)

Please let me know all your ideas, suggestions or remarks ... It helps me improving my tour :)

  • Sorry, I did not have time to look at these wonderful panos (just one, and I was impressed just by the one I cliked on...). I'll do it this week-end. Great quality as it seems.

The subject itself : himalaya, buddhism, Tibet... All that makes me dream... Magic !

If anyone can offer us a travel in plane and the possibility of making aerial panos in this area, we go immediately.

    Ma and her "Ma'sborough"

  • Thanks to your remarks/suggestions, I've updated my tour. The changes are:
-The map is closed when opening each new panorama,
-The icones on the map have been shaded
-The map is less bright and less colorfull also which makes it easy to see the icones,
-The progress bar is lower, just above the navigation bottoms,
-The "thing" that moves in the nadir (bottom of the panorama) has been removed,
-When closing the "box info", full screen is not forced anymore,

-> English version is comming soon !

Thank you for all your answers,

    Matthieu

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Matthieu

  • WOW, there is absolutely everything amazing in this tour- the panos, the tour, the interface, ...
(also the great details like the "telescope" mask in the HD images )

I would only change the hover "textstyle",
e.g. just add this to the first xml to change all textstyles:

    Code
    <textstyle name="DEFAULT" font="Arial" fontsize="12" yoffset="-10" textalign="center" border="false" background="false" textcolor="0xFFFFFF" effect="glow(0x000000,0.7,4,2);dropshadow(2,45,0x000000,3,1);"/>

    best regards,
    Klaus
