No more flash support on Android?

Hi,

I read the news about Adobe's no more support of Flash on Android OS 5.0.
Is it currently possible to view HTML5 version krpano on Android OS 4.0
ice cream sandwich? (which is currently the latest Android OS)

If currently not, would this be possible on Android 5.0?
If flash is no more supported, I wonder how can I view panoramas on Android OS?

Best Regards,
hyung

Ice Cream Sandwich lacks Flash support, will have it eventually

http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/21/25773…e-it-eventually - "..
Adobe will make a version of Flash for Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) by the end of the year, ..."

Hi MaxPank,

So flash is supported until Android 4.0. Hopefully I can play HTML5 version
of krpano on Android 5.0.. If not, could there be an alternative?

Best Regards,
hyung

Hi,

you're not up-to-date - the Flashplayer is already available for Android 4.0

about HTML5 - as soon as Android provides a working and performing "CSS 3D transforms" or "WebGL" support, then using HTML5 with krpano will be possible (it's just not enabled at the moment),

I don't know how "CSS 3D tramsforms" are working on Android 4.0, I have only 2.3 and 3.2 devices for testing at the moment, and there the CSS 3D transforms are NOT working correctly),

if you have an Android 4.0 device you can test this link please and report:

Klaus

Tested it on my Nexus S with Android 4.0.3 and seems like CSS 3D transforms are not working properly.
I can see only one side of the cube, others invisible. Then I try to zoom, the image dissapears.

Hi,

thanks for testing! (I have too a Nexus S but still waiting for the Android 4.0 update)

regarding to your description it seems the CSS 3D transforms in Android 4.0 are unfortunately still the same like in Android 3.2...
which unfortunately means that only Flash panos are working correctly on Android for the moment...

best regards,
Klaus

Hi,

I checked the testpage on my galaxy s2 with custom ics rom. All the cube faces are correctly visible and it's possible to look around without visible problem. When I try to zoom in or out, all the faces are disappearing.

Best Regards

Hi,

Quoted

When I try to zoom in or out, all the faces are disappearing.
yes, this is one of the typical 'CSS 3D transforms' problems on Android - only Google itself can fixed that,

Klaus

hi,

just found this topic.

i've testet the obove html5css3dtest with my android tablet (easypix 970) and it's working fine as far as i can judge. pano is displayed correctly, "krpanoJS demo version" watermark in the middle of the picture. the jsplayer performance is really good. (i have to say the easypix 970 isn't the most powerful android tablet out there and watching krpano tours via flash on it can be a real pain. because of the overall weak performance of the tablet). so with this example link above - the performance is waaaayy better than with a flash pano on my tablet.

image correctly displayed, dragging the image around, works great.good performance. the only thing that doesn't really work with this demo (on my tablet here) is the two finger zoom - if you do it, the image disappears - black screen with the "demo version tag" in the middle - after a couple of seconds the image is displayed (now zoomed out/in) again. you can now drag the zoomed in/out image like normal. if you zoom in/out again, the same procedure happens again (images disapears - black - comes again).

here are the the software specs from the tablet:
android-version: 4.0.3
kernel-version: 3.0.8+ root@xingyu-desktop #27

browser (thats the preinstalled/factory browser on the tablet - no addon-browser loaded so far onto the tablet)
Browser: version 4.0.3-eng.yely.20120228.174400

maybe this short feedback is for some use you for you klaus.

Hi Klaus,

Is there any way to detect "Android Version" which does not support "Flash" and to display a message in "KRPano's style" (like debug window)?

OR

Is there any way to check if "CSS 3D transform" property is supported by "Android Browser" and display some error message?

Please suggest.

Thanks
Pratiks

Hi,

I would recommend using the isHTML5possible or isFlashpossible embedding functions:
http://krpano.com/docu/html/#isHTML5possible

e.g. see the 'krpano_html5.html' file in the current viewer download version - this file shows the viewer the only when HTML5 is available.

Best regards,
Klaus

On my visite the panorama are show only one side of the cube at the time it look my nexus 7 and on my Galaxy S3 .

I search in the documentation and this forum this page do the same thing : http://krpano.com/html5css3dtest/

I put in attachment a screen capture on my Galaxy S3 that show this problem.

Correct me if there is nothing to set this problem now. I would really like this work.

Is that the Chrome Browser?
If yes, than this is normal for the current Android Chrome Browser:

That link is out of date!
Here's the current 'html5' page:
